At the Louisiana Dance Alliance (LDA), our mission is to unify and elevate the dance community throughout Louisiana. By centralizing all dance-related activities on a single, accessible platform, we strive to create opportunities for dancers to build and sustain professional careers within the state.

Our platform will include a comprehensive directory of contacts, along with a message board for audition announcements, artist calls, choreographic proposals, and more. In addition to being a valuable resource, LDA is committed to fostering in-person connections within the community.

Who we are

Brett Alan Garfinkel is from Long Island, New York. He received is BFA in Dance from Adelphi University and an MFA in Dance Performance & Teaching from Purchase College, SUNY. Brett is a certified GYROKINESIS® & GYROTONIC® trainer. He has performed with numerous companies in and around NYC. Brett was a member of BODYART Dance Company for 6 years and continues to work with them in production. He has also performed and toured with Lucinda Childs Dance Company, Vissi Dance Theater, Flexicurve, Hydroflo, Naganuma Dance, Genesis Dance Company and Mary Seidman & Dancers. Brett is chair of the Department of Theatre and Dance and a Professor of Dance at Northwestern State University.

It is Brett’s mission to help build a bigger, stronger, and more connected dance community in the state of Louisiana. My hope is to connect all dance happenings in the state in one place, giving dancers the opportunity to have a professional dance career in Louisiana. There will be a directory area that will list contact information, and a message board that will be utilized for audition postings as well as calling for artists/proposals for choreographic works, etc.

While directories are a great resource, it is our hope that an annual in person meeting will foster interstate, and inter-regional connections beyond a name on a list.
